SAN FRANCISCO, California. Many people today have smartphones.Smartphones do many things. Like what? They make calls. They get on the Internet. They run apps. Some smartphones can even track location. Some smartphones take data about a user's location. They send the data to phone companies. The companies save this data. How come? Many companies say they need the information. It helps companies know where to send phonesignals. That way, people can make calls. They can also answer calls. They can get on the Internet, too. But some smartphone users don't like this. They don't want companies to save their location data. Why not? They think this is an invasion of privacy. Many people can see this information. They can tell where smartphone users have been.
