ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico. There are Navajo children living in New Mexico. Many don't know Navajo culture. They don't know Navajo language. This is a problem for families. Tribes have older people. Some know only Navajo. Children can't talk with them. New Mexico's schools are helping. They teach summer school. Navajo learn their culture. They learn their language. Classes are for kindergarten through fifth grade. They last four weeks. Students study six hours each day. They learn the language of the Navajo. They learn Navajo ways. They bake bread in outdoor ovens. They spin wool.
